Strategies to Support Children Impacted by Substance Use Disorder

Understanding AddictionPrevention

There are a variety of strategies that we can use to support drug endangered children at each age and stage. The Eluna Resource Center and The National Alliance for Drug Endangered Children (NADEC) have partnered to create this micro training video.

In this 13 minute course, we discuss several age-appropriate strategies to support children impacted by parental, caregiver or community substance misuse. We also review resources available through the National Alliance for Drug Endangered Children and Eluna Resource Center for professionals working with children and their families.

Whether you’re a teacher, counselor, healthcare provider, social worker, or law enforcement, your role matters. You have the power to break cycles of trauma and improve long term outcomes for drug endangered children and their families. Start by using the strategies you’ve learned today. Share these resources with your colleagues. Reach out to families. Connect children to mentors. Advocate for early intervention.

Together, we can change the story for drug endangered children—one child, one family, one community at a time. Visit the Eluna Resource Center and the National Alliance for Drug Endangered Children to take your next step.
