“Camp Erin provides children and teens an outlet in which to process their grief in healthy ways, connect with their peers and learn they are not alone. The natural camp setting combined with physical activities and grief support has a transformative effect. We are honored to be partnering with these new partner organizations to offer Camp Erin and provide a continuum of care for children and families impacted by grief,” said Mary K. FitzGerald, CEO of Eluna.
Our new Camp Erin partners are working to plan their first programs. In response COVID-19, Camp Erin’s priority has been the safety and well-being of campers, families, and our network of partners and volunteers. Camp Erin now also supports campers through virtual camps, day camps and care packages. For camp dates and to contact your local Camp Erin director, visit the Find Your Camp map.
Kitrina Fex, the Executive Director of Heart House Hospice shared, “We are thrilled to partner with Eluna, join a national network of camp providers, and to grow our grief support programs to include an amazing camp experience that offers compassion and community to grieving children and teens.”
Camp Erin is the largest national bereavement program for youth who are grieving the death of a significant person in their lives. Children and teens ages 6 to 17 attend a weekend camp experience that combines grief education and emotional support with fun, traditional camp activities. Led by bereavement professionals and caring volunteers, campers are provided a safe environment to explore their grief, learn essential coping skills, and connect with peers who are also grieving. Additional services are offered to support the whole family outside of the camp weekend. Through a network of partnerships with bereavement programs in local communities across the US and Canada, Camp Erin brings hope and healing to thousands of children and families annually and is offered at no cost to families.
