Your Words. Your Story: A Reflective Writing Opportunity for Teens Who Are Grieving
Program Description:
Join us for Your Words. Your Story: A reflective writing opportunity for teens who are grieving – featuring New York Times bestselling author and TED speaker, Dr. Laurel Braitman.
Writing can be a powerful way to reflect and bring clarity to all the thoughts, feelings, and experiences we carry in our minds and hearts. Setting aside time for creative writing can help us feel more connected with the people, places, and moments that have brought meaning into our lives. And, if we choose to share our writing with others, we open up possibilities for connection that might help us feel a little less alone.
Caregivers: The first portion of this event is dedicated to you. We will offer tools for supporting your young person. including practical ways to ask meaningful questions – the kind that open doors and lead to more authentic and interesting conversations and hopefully new insights into their brilliant, intimidating, and hilarious minds.
Teens: The second portion of this event is just for you. No writing experience is required – seriously, if you can text, you can write! There will be guided writing prompts, time for personal reflection, and optional sharing opportunities. We will offer techniques for clear. interesting, and brave ways to share vour voice. You will also leave with tips for shaping your personal writing into submissions for contests, scholarship applications, print and digital publications, and more.
