On October 24, 2019, Eluna hosted its 7th annual Champions for Children Celebration, presented by AmerisourceBergen and held at VIE in Philadelphia. Adorned with tie-dye décor, giant Jenga, and other camp-inspired games, the venue was transformed into a campsite complete with s’mores. 

A luminary ceremony inspired by our Camp Erin program was led by Camp Erin Philadelphia Clinical Director Katie Opher. One by one, children from both camps came to the podium and acknowledged the significant person in their life who had passed away or been impacted by substance use disorder. Guests were also invited to remember or honor a person in their life by helping to decorate a luminary or writing their name on a memory or honorary board. The moving ceremony was accompanied by live music by Camp Erin music therapist, Molly Hicks.

Aunyea Lachelle, host of NBC10’s Philly Live, served as the evening’s Master of Ceremonies. Eluna co-founder, Karen Phelps Moyer, presented the 2019 Karen Phelps Moyer Resiliency Award to the Goldman Family for their dedication to furthering Eluna’s mission in supporting children and families who have been impacted by grief or addiction.

Ellen Barry, President of Eluna’s Board of Trustees, then presented Charles O’Donnell, Chief Operating Officer of Duane Morris, LLP one of the largest and most prominent international law firms in Philadelphia with the David P. Montgomery Corporate Leadership Award.
