SAFE Project
SAFE Project is a national 501(c)(3) nonprofit committed to overcoming the addiction epidemic in the United States. Established in 2017 by Admiral James and Mary Winnefeld after the tragic loss of their 19-year-old son Jonathan due to an opioid overdose, SAFE Project aims to save lives impacted by substance use and mental health challenges through overdose prevention and response, education on stigma, and development of prevention and recovery programs. SAFE Project also provides tailored guidance and training within its four key initiatives: SAFE Campuses, SAFE Communities, SAFE Workplaces, and SAFE Veterans. We invite you to join SAFE Project’s No Shame Movement – a national anti-stigma campaign working to transform how we understand and talk about addiction and recovery. The campaign provides individuals, communities, and organizations with essential information and practical tools to combat stigma – grounded in compassion, dignity, and respect.
Plus here are some SAFE Project trainings that we recommend:
- Opioid Overdose Response Training: In this abbreviated training, participants learn what an opioid overdose is, how to recognize one, and how to save a life with naloxone.
- Fentanyl Safety: What to Know and How To Navigate Risk: Through a 20-minute video this course shares information about what fentanyl is, where it is found, how we arrived at this current crisis, and what we can do about it.
- Recovery Allyship Training: This 45-minute training explores the nuances of addiction, recovery, and stigma. Participants also gain knowledge and skills for creating more recovery-supportive cultures.
Eluna is proud to elevate and support the important work taking place at SAFE Project – including their #NoShame movement. Join us in taking the pledge!
