Teens: Drug Use and the Brain

The National Institude of Health's (NIH)  National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) created an online destination for Teens to learn more about drug abuse, its impacts on the brain and how it can lead to substance use disoder.  The website dispells myths about addiction and provides scientifitic information in a language that is understandable. 

The Drug facts page contains the facts about all of the drugs that you have heard of including the various nicknames and the range of side effects.  Included in this website is a page dedicated to videos that explore research, investigate drugs' effects on the brain, and explain how the brain responds to different subtances. Above is the video that dispell's myths of the disease of addiction.

We like this destination for teens, parents and teachers and who want to learn more about substance use and addiction's impact on the brain.
