The LIGHT Movement: Love in Grief, Held Together
Started by a group of volunteers, the LIGHT (Love in Grief, Held Together) Movement recently became a non-profit. Their workers, board, and volunteers recognize that no one is immune from grief and that our fellow humans–and our entire world–are grieving. Therefore, we must learn how to work with grief and grow because of it.
LIGHT has four goals:
- Remind people they are not alone.
- Teach somatic-based tools to support mind-body integration, leading to meaning-making and purpose in grief.
- Provide other support and resources to support people in their grief.
- Stand in solidarity for all people (children, teens, adults, and seniors) and all types of grief.
Their vision is to bring LIGHT to the global community. Primarily, they provide somatic-based classes, workshops, training, and retreats, both virtually and in-person, to all ages (children through seniors). Additionally, they will start an educational program for youth, supporting them in their education and development through intergenerational support and somatic-based tools.
LIGHT offerings:
- Retreats for all ages focused on grief & burnout.
- Somatic Healing Classes including yoga, art, and movement offered on a donation basis.
- Grief and Trauma-Informed Trainings with CE credits and discounted volunteer opportunities.
