Memorial Merits – funeral planning, legacy help, and grief support

Exploring GriefAnticipatory Grief

Memorial Merits is a  free grief resource for people in the middle of a loss, founded by Gabriel Killian, a Navy veteran, after his father passed from complications following heart surgery. Much of the site is grief-focused writing in the founder’s own voice, exploring what grief actually looks like rather than what it’s “supposed” to look like, anticipatory grief and the guilt of mourning someone who is still alive, relief that arrives alongside sorrow, and losses that often go quietly dismissed, including pet loss.

The site is organized into three main areas:

  • Legacy & Estate Planning — Wills, trusts, life insurance, and tools to organize everything before it’s needed.
  • Funeral Planning — Caskets, cremation, costs, and legal rights, with clear guidance and no funeral home pressure.
  • Grieving Resources — Grief support directory, memorial keepsakes, and pet loss support.

Free to access, with no signup or account required.
