Founded in 2000, we offer community-building camps, interpersonal connections, and a continuum of support for youth and families. Eluna’s three signature programs are provided at no cost: Camp Erin, the largest grief camp network for youth ages 6-17; Camp Mariposa, an addiction prevention and mentoring program for youth ages 9-17; and the Eluna Resource Center, providing educational resources and personalized support. About the Eluna Resource Center:
The Eluna Resource Center provides personalized support and trainings in English and Spanish as well as a comprehensive Resource Library and National Program Guide for youth and families impacted by grief or addiction.
This unpaid internship is designed to provide the intern with an opportunity to gain practical experience, professional development, training, mentoring and exposure to the operations of a non-profit organization. Participation is not limited to enrolled students seeking academic credit; individuals seeking experience, skill development, career exploration and/or exposure to the non-profit sector are also encouraged to apply. This is a supervised educational and experiential opportunity, and the intern will receive regular supervision, guidance and feedback from the Assistant Manager of the Eluna Resource Center so that learning and professional development become meaningful components of the experience.
At the beginning of the internship, specific learning objectives will be developed between the supervisor and the intern depending on the intern’s interests and the needs of the Eluna Resource Center. Specifically, this internship will provide the intern with opportunities to research and build personalized support reports in response to individuals seeking support for their families or directly to the clients impacted by grief or addiction in the family. The intern will receive thorough onboarding and on-going training to learn about our templates, tools, and tailored approaches to meet the unique needs of each family. As the intern develops each personalized support report, they will be supervised and supported by the Eluna Resource Center team to help them identify any nuances and newly vetted resources or programs to include. The intern will have access to our numerous resource report templates that they will copy and modify based on the age, location, and circumstances specific to each client/family. Once compiled, reviewed and approved by the intern’s supervisor, the intern will deliver the resource directly to the person who requested support and update our data system to properly track and close out each case.
- Participate in onboarding training and attend regular weekly meetings with the Eluna Resource Center team to continuously learn and develop greater skill in creating appropriate tailored responses to client/family needs.
- Research and develop resource reports for families impacted by grief or substance use disorder.
- Consult and collaborate with the Eluna Resource Center team on all inquiries.
- Deliver resource reports (via email) directly to the individual who requested personalized support in a timely manner.
- Use Eluna’s data system to ensure that the detail of each assigned case is captured and then closed.
- Other mutually agreed upon duties and responsibilities assigned based on the needs of the Eluna Resource Center and the interests of the intern.
- Pursuing a postsecondary degree or relevant work/life experience.
- Some background or interest in mental health, education, grief, or addiction prevention studies.
- Camp Erin or Camp Mariposa alumni preferred.
- Bilingual preferred.
This is an unpaid internship. The intern will not receive wages, salary or employee benefits and should have no expectation of any compensation for participation. Academic credit is not required but if an intern independently chooses to seek academic credit from an institution willing to provide it, Eluna will cooperate with reasonable documentation requirements when feasible.
Participation in the internship will not create an employer/employee relationship nor guarantee future employment with Eluna.
