Janice (Jake) Marini

Jake Marini is a nonprofit executive skilled in navigating complex institutions to solve organizational challenges. Recognized for fostering collaboration and inspiring trust across disparate groups, Jake has extensive experience in strategy, operations, partnerships, fundraising, and special events. She presently serves as Chief Advancement Officer at Philadelphia Foundation, a community foundation, where she is responsible for the strategic cultivation, development and execution of fundraising activities to significantly grow the assets and impact of the organization.

Formerly the Vice President and University Secretary in the Office of the President at Drexel University, Jake managed the content and execution of all board of trustees meetings and communications, and directed a broad range of sensitive projects and initiatives for the University President. Later she became Vice Provost for Global Engagement, with responsibility for academic and research partnerships as well as study abroad and global classroom programming.

Before Drexel, Jake served as Chief of Staff to the President and Vice President for University Affairs at Thomas Jefferson University. Her time at Jefferson included developing Jefferson’s international partnerships and affiliations, and managing core university functions such as registrar, space planning, academic events, library services, communications and financial aid. Prior to these positions, Jake served as Executive Director for Special Events in the University of Pennsylvania’s President’s Office; the Head of Cultivation and Events for the Royal Shakespeare Company (UK); and Alumni Relations Manager for St. Edmund Hall, Oxford University (UK).

A native of Stratford, Connecticut, Jake is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and a fellow of Bryn Mawr College’s Nonprofit Executive Leadership Institute (NELI). She has been an associate member of the Consular Corps of Philadelphia and held board positions at Global Philadelphia Association and Inis Nua Theatre Company.
