Healing Tree at The Dempsey Center
Healing Tree at the Dempsey Center is a family-centered, youth-focused model of care designed to support children and teens impacted by their own or a loved one’s cancer. Offerings include counseling and consultation services for youth, parents and families, peer support groups for children 7-18, therapeutic adventure programs, specialized resources and educational opportunities. The Center offers a free, 5-day therapeutic summer camp called Space to Breathe, designed for adolescents who have been impacted by a sibling or parent’s cancer diagnosis, including those who are bereaved.
The Healing Tree program is offered in both South Portland and Lewiston, Maine Dempsey Center locations with some virtual services also available. Accessing services is as easy as calling or emailing the Dempsey Center and requesting to speak with a Healing Tree counselor.
