Brave of Heart Scholarship is now accepting online applicationsUp to $25,000.00 annually is available in funding, depending on an eligible applicant’s academic focus, student status, and other criteria. Application deadline is April 24, 2024, 3:00 p.m. Central Time. The Brave of Heart Scholarship is non-competitive. All eligible applicants will receive some level of award. Eligible applicants:

  • Are a spouse, domestic partner, or child of a healthcare worker, volunteer, or support staff whose life was lost in the fight against COVID-19
  • Plan to enroll in an accredited program at a vocational and technical school, community college, 4-year college or university, or graduate school (if pursuing healthcare studies)
  • Individuals enrolled in part-time coursework (at least 6 credit hours per term), returning to school for continuing education, or exploring a new field of study are eligible
  • Individuals do not have to be previous recipients of Brave of Heart Fund grants to be eligible; and, previous recipients of Brave of Heart grants are eligible for this scholarship 
  • Interested individuals may also register to receive notification of future application cycles. Please note, the Brave of Heart Scholarship program anticipates making scholarship awards available through the 2026-27 school year. Please direct all inquiries to Scholarship America via the Brave of Heart Scholarship page online. Please also note that these funds are available for use only for educational expenses and issued to educational institutions, not to individuals or families.

The Folded Flag Foundation provides educational scholarships and support grants to the spouses and children of U.S. military and government personnel who died as a result of hostile action or in an accident related to U.S. combat operations. The foundation is now accepting applications for its educational scholarship program. Scholarship and grant opportunities with a May 15, 2024, deadline include:

  • Children’s Education Scholarship: For eligible children in grades K-12, the foundation provides scholarships and educational grants to cover private school tuition and fees, tutoring, after-school programs, summer camps, and other related educational expenses.
  • College or Technical/Trade School Scholarship: For college-bound spouses and children, the foundation provides scholarships and educational grants to cover tuition and fees, books, computers, living expenses (to include child care for students with young children), tutoring, test preparation services, and career preparation expenses (internships, resume writing workshops, interview preparation training, etc.).
  • The General Montgomery (Monty) C. Meigs Scholarship: Awarded to an individual who demonstrates the outstanding characteristics of Monty Meigs. This individual excels both in the classroom and on the field and strives to help others through selfless service.
